Our Story

At Acoaxet Kayak Rental we believe everyone should have a way to get out on the water and experience the benefits of nature. We opened in 2016 to provide affordable access to the river that so many people don’t have unless they own a house, a boat, or a beach pass. The Westport River is a unique and beautiful tidal estuary that everyone should be able to enjoy.

Our location provides the perfect access for paddling at both high and low tide. We are protected from the hustle and bustle of the harbor, yet close enough to be able to paddle the beach. At low tide the exposed sand bars are a good place to stop and explore, have a picnic or just take a break. At high tide, you can explore the coves and shoreline, or paddle through the marshes and get a close look at the Ospreys on their nests.

From the moment you shove off into the river you are in another world, filled with sights, sounds and beauty that is both inspiring and educational. A day, or even just an hour on the river is sure to put a smile on your face!
